The Center for Integrative Evolutionary Science accepts graduate students enrolled in the Integrative Evolutionary Science Program at SOKENDAI (The Graduate University for Advanced Studies, SOKENDAI), a national university corporation, to work together on evolutionary science research. The distinctive feature of SOKENDAIblank lies in its nurturing of researchers at world-class research institutions. In the Integrative Evolutionary Science Program, basically all graduate students are employed as Research Assistants (RAs). (They receive an annual stipend of up to 536,000 JPY and can continue as RAs even if they are selected for JSPS DC1 or DC2 fellowships). Additionally, we are committed to fostering future talent through the following systems and features:

  •  The RA system supports the equivalent amount of tuition fees (described above).
  •  Prospective students can experience the lab and the Center for Integrative Evolutionary Science before enrollment.
  •  After enrollment, students can choose their research lab utilizing lab rotation.
  •  There are retreat events with other life sciences courses within SOKENDAI.
  •  Students receive research advice from faculty members of different fields.
  •  Active academic exchange beyond lab boundaries.
  •  Early Graduation available (Degree can be completed in as short as 3 years).
